We're a community of people who want to grow in a healthy way
We're building a culturally understandable church for people who aren't part of it yet.
Authenticity | Open Eyes
We don't wear rose-tinted glasses. Life's reality is complicated, and we know Christianity doesn't guarantee a life without problems. We don't throw around empty phrases — instead, we search for solutions together, believe in God's work, and genuinely care about each other.
Faith | Open Mind
We're not afraid to ask questions, search for answers, or doubt. We believe God revealed what matters most in the story of Jesus of Nazareth. Together, we search the Bible and our relationship with God for a path that helps us find meaning and peace even in the middle of a hectic world.
Respect | Open Arms
We don't judge. We respect the life path of anyone who chooses to share it with us. We rely on God's wisdom and plan for each of us. We believe that even though we have different opinions, approaches, and backgrounds, we can share the same goal.
From the very beginning, we've cared about SafePoint being a safe place where everyone can grow at their own pace.
SafePoint started as a small group of people who felt that faith in Prague needed a new language — one that would make sense to our friends too. We met through Instagram, then started gathering in a small space in Karlín. Instead of ready-made answers, we offered a safe space where you could honestly ask your questions. Little by little, our small groups grew into a large community, in which dozens and dozens of people have discovered their faith since 2022. From six founding members, we've grown into a community of more than a hundred friends.
Today, SafePoint is more than an inspiring Saturday SafePoint Talk. It's a spiritual family. People from all walks of life and with different views of the world build relationships here, and discover meaning and a deeper dimension of life. Our shared faith is colorful, authentic, and thanks to that it keeps growing in a healthy way — so it can truly transform our lives and the lives of people around us.
I was drowning in liters of alcohol
For every McDonald's, four Seventh-day Adventist Church congregations exist worldwide. And we're part of them
SafePoint is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has more congregations than McDonald's, Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and Subway combined. 🍔 For every Apple Store, there are 18 Adventist schools and universities worldwide. 🎓 And globally, this church runs the world's second-largest healthcare system. 🏥
We try to be a light for society.
But we're definitely not just here for Adventists.
Anyone who wants to search for meaning in life together, in a safe environment, will find their place among us. We're simply a community of people learning to follow Jesus in the middle of the 21st century.
Hope has the final word
We believe the world won't end in chaos. "Advent" means "coming." And we believe that something good is coming our way. God will one day put the world right again — that's our hope.
For us, faith isn't about performance
Sabbath (the ancient concept of Shabbat) is a symbol for us that we're not defined by our performance. One day a week, we stop. Because our worth isn't in everything we manage to get done, but in where we want to be headed.
God is present in our everyday reality
Adventists believe in a God who heals — body, mind, and relationships. That's why we talk about a healthy lifestyle, about mental health, and about a spirituality that's relational, not dogmatic.
I'm Pavel Eder, 👋
founder and lead pastor of the SafePoint Prague community, pastor in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, husband, and forever student. 🌱 I love helping others on their path to a deeper life. I studied theology at ETF UK (Protestant Theological Faculty, Charles University) and ATI, and I'm currently pursuing a doctoral program in intercultural studies at Andrews University in the USA.
I didn't grow up in the church, so I understand people who don't relate to religious institutions. That's actually one of the reasons my wife, some friends, and I decided to start SafePoint. Somewhere between Halík, Derrida, and Jolanda, we explore new expressions of faith that make sense even to people who'd never set foot in a normal church — but who still feel that something is out there above us. ☝️
We're a community, and we build SafePoint together
It was never a one man show. We're building a home where everyone has their place. Our leadership team is made up of spiritually mature people who help others grow in faith and develop their gifts. Our goal isn't to create a group of professionals who handle everything, but to build an environment where everyone can get involved in whatever brings them joy.
