The conference title, “Mission in a Secular Age,” takes its cue from sociologist and philosopher of religion Charles Taylor's book A Secular Age. In it, Taylor describes an era in which faith is no longer the default setting of life but merely one option among many competing stories offering meaning — an age in which faith hasn't disappeared, but the church has lost its voice. Right here in the Czech context, too, there's a growing hunger for authenticity, trust, and genuine human closeness. This conference addressed how to communicate faith meaningfully in that environment, and the following speakers accepted the invitation: Gary Krause (director of Adventist Mission at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists), Bledi Leno (director of the Center for Urban Mission), Jonathan Contero (associate director of the Center for Secular and Post-Christian Mission), and Wayne Krause (mission director of the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church).
